A Typical Mom-ism
Any of us kids: "Mom! Why did you put onions on this?!?"
Mom: "Oh, you can't taste them!"
Kids: "Then why did you put them on here?"
Mom: "For the flavor."

That's like when my mom starts to fix something new that includes lots of questionable ingredients. She assures me it'll be fantastic and I just look her in the eye and remind her that she likes spinach....
Hey easy! I love spinach! In salads, but even better cooked.
In my opinion, spinach should fall into the category of dandelions, thistles, and onion grass. Some things are just not meant to be eaten.
I'll admit, I've never tasted it but the mental barrier is simply too large. I think I'd gag.
On the contrary, spinach is in the same lot of foods as lettuce. It has no stickers, no noxious odor, and no habit of trying to take over a whole lawn.
Huh. Have you ever tried planting that stuff in your yard?
