A Moment

Today I had a...well, a Kris sort of moment.

I had to go to the post office after work to pick up some mail. I get off work at 4:00 and the post office closes at 4:30. It takes at least 20 minutes to get to the post office if the traffic is good. Needless to say, I was in a hurry. I arrived at the post office, grabbed my purse, and hurried inside. I was in luck...there was no one else in line so I was able to go straight to the counter. The lady behind the counter saw me coming and said, "oh, you're hereafter the mail" and off she went to get it.

I went to place my purse on the counter and, lo in the hole! it was none other than my zebra-striped lunch box. I gaped at it for a second or two before quickly lowering it back to the lowest position possible. I then stuck it between my knees and the counter and just held it there hoping no one else would come in the door and see my large zebra lunch box. The clerk came with the mail and I took it from her with a large friendly smile. I then turned, carefully hid the lunch box from prying eyes behind the counter and strolled out as if it was only natural for me to have a large rectangular zebra printed purse. Lucky for me, I didn't meet anyone on my way out and I was certainly grateful that I had parked on the side of the building instead of the front. I collapsed into my car, grinning like a loon and feeling quite sheepish.
